    Liturgical Ministries

    Altar Servers
Children:  Altar Servers assist the priest (and deacon) during Sunday Mass. They also assist at weddings. All students in Grade 3 and above are invited to enter this ministry.

    Contact: Len Deitrich, 781-395-1831

Adults: Adult Altar Servers assist the priest (and deacon) during weekday Masses and funerals.

    Contact: Parish Office, 781-396-0423

    Altar Society
The Saint Joseph Altar Society consists of dedicated parishioners who add a positive element to parish liturgies by performing many behind-the-scenes projects such as cleaning, polishing, and repairing our worship areas. Because of their efforts parishioners are provided with a most fitting environment for sacred liturgy.

Volunteer help is welcome. The time commitment is flexible.

    Contact: Michael DePascale, 781 391-6937

    Church Cleaning
Church cleaners are responsible to cleaning and sanitizing the church after Masses.  Please contact the office for more information.

    Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest and deacon in distributing the sacred Body and Precious Blood of the Lord to the faithful at Mass. They also bring Communion to the homebound or sick.

Shut-ins or Homebound: Ministers bring Holy Communion to shut-ins once each month. Each minister visits 4 to 6 homes. Some special training is given to help better understand ministry to the homebound.

    Greeters
Greeters are an integral part of our hospitality ministry.  They are the first point of contact for parishioners at Sunday Mass.  Their responsibilities include welcoming parishioners and guests, handing out bulletins, and answering any questions that parishioners or guests may have or directing them to the appropriate person.

Contact: Parish Office, 781-396-0423 or Alex Stathopoulos

    Lectors
Lectors make announcements and recite the readings and prayers of the faithful at Mass.  Please contact the office for more information.

    Liturgical Decoration
Decorators are a group of parish volunteers who donate their time and talent at different times throughout the year to help prepare the church for the appropriate liturgical season such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, Palm Sunday, Pentecost or Easter. It is the responsibility of this group to enhance the prayer life of our parishioners by creating a worship space that is warm and inviting.

Volunteers help in decorating (and un-decorating) the church according to their abilities. Tasks vary widely from preparing candles for the Easter Vigil, arranging flowers around the altar, hanging ribbons, bows, swags, wreaths, etc., depending on the liturgical season.

Volunteers are always welcome. Many hands make light and pleasant work! Hours are flexible and volunteers for specific projects are contacted approximately two weeks in advance of the scheduled need. At Christmas and Easter, volunteers may be asked to assist in advance preparation work sessions to reduce the work done on the actual decorating day.

    Ushers
Warm, friendly, and outgoing parishioners, men and women, are sought to be a part of this group. The members of this group are responsible for welcoming all those who enter into our church for worship. They make sure all are seated comfortably, and they have the responsibility of collecting the Sunday offerings. They may also tidy the church for the next liturgy
