Dear Parish Members,
It may be helpful to be reminded about what we do when we receive Holy Communion. We believe - and the Church has insisted from the beginning - that the Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of our Lord, Jesus Christ. So, we should approach and receive the Eucharist with reverence and gratitude.
As you approach the priest or minister, make a small bow as a sign of reverence to the Lord Who is present in the Eucharist. When the priest or minister says, "the Body of Christ," you respond, "Amen" (which means, "yes, I believe"). Then, if you are receiving on your tongue, put out your tongue far enough so that the minister can easily place the host there. If you are receiving in your hand, place one hand under the other (make a "throne" for the King), and then when the host is put in your hand, take it with your other hand and consume it right away. It is not appropriate to "take" the host from the minister's hand - you receive it as a gift. Also, consume the host immediately; it is not appropriate to take it back to your seat and consume it there. Ministers have been instructed to follow anyone who does not consume the host right away, in order to make sure that he/she does so.
Parishioners are also reminded that if you are aware of having committed a mortal sin, you should go to confession to be forgiven of that sin before receiving Communion. The priests are happy to hear confessions at any reasonable time in addition to the weekly scheduled times. Also, it is not appropriate for non-Catholics to receive Communion - the very word "communion" means that we who receive are in full union with the Lord, the Church, and all Her teachings.
Anyone who, for whatever reason, is not receiving Communion can come forward and request a blessing from the priest by crossing their arms over their chest. (Also, anyone who is not Catholic but would like to know more about the faith or about becoming Catholic is encouraged to contact Fr. Peter about the annual RCIA program.)
Our nation is currently in the midst of a 3-year National Eucharistic Revival. Find out more information at www.eucharisticrevival.org. May we give thanks every day for this precious gift of the Holy Eucharist, which strengthens our "Communion" with our Lord, and strengthens us in our efforts to love Him and love our neighbor.

2023 CATHOLIC APPEAL
We are so close to the finish line! Our parish has raised $44,092 toward our 2023 Catholic Appeal goal of $44,198, which means we have reached 99.9% of our goal. Of the total raised, there remains a balance of unpaid pledges of $6,744. Your prompt payment of your pledge will help our parish reach our goal in full. Our heartfelt thanks to all who have helped make our campaign a success so far.
If you have not had a chance to do so, please consider making your gift to the Appeal today by picking up an envelope at church or scanning the QR code above to make an on-line donation at www.bostoncatholicappeal.org.
Participation from every household in the parish is important and every gift makes a meaningful difference in putting faith into action to support the parishes, schools, and communities within our Archdiocese. Please note that this campaign is an assessment to our parish. This means that, if we don’t make our goal, the parish has to make up the shortfall from our limited funds. We also get to share in the success of exceeding the campaign goal. Last year, we earned a rebate of $2,000 as we raised contributions in excess of the goal!
Thank you for responding in faith, hope, and charity by making a gift to the 2023 Catholic Appeal. We are stronger together and your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Music at Mary, Queen of Peace Parish
New Choir Members WELCOME!
We are continually looking for new choir members to sing with us. If you have a musical talent to share with the community, we would love to have you join us. Please contact Shawn Mikkelson, Director of Music ([email protected]), or his assistant, Mark Nemeskal ([email protected]).
We are currently seeking children to join us at the 10am Sunday family Mass at Saint Joseph Church. Children grades 3 and up, who enjoy singing and who are able to join us on Sundays for rehearsal at 9:15 a.m. prior to Mass at 10:00 a.m., are most welcome to be part of the music team!
The Adult Choir sings at the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays at Saint Francis of Assisi Church. They meet at 11:00 a.m. to prepare for Mass and then stay after Mass for about 45 minutes to rehearse for upcoming liturgies. Any singers who are able to commit some time to join us in the loft at Saint Francis should contact Shawn or Mark as noted above.
We look forward to hearing from you!!
