GRAND ANNUAL UPDATE - Closing out our Grand Annual Campaign
We are so grateful to all the parishioners who have supported our Parish through this campaign!
This collection is critical to maintaining the financial stability of our parishes, especially during this challenging time of pandemic. Our Weekly Offertory alone doesn’t cover all our operating expenses. The Grand Annual collection is the bridge that allows us to do so. Especially at this time of year, this collection helps us meet the increased utilities and maintenance costs associated with the cold months.
If you haven’t made your contribution to this campaign, there’s still time to do so! We respectfully ask for your prayerful consideration and generosity. We also offer an on-line donation option, for your convenience. It can be accessed by clicking here.
Following is a summary of the campaign’s results:
Mary, Queen of Peace Parish
St. Joseph & St. Francis of Assisi Churches
Goal: $80,000
$ Collected: $54,569
% Collected: 68%

Cardinal Seán's Homily for Mass for Racial Justice

On June 13, 2020, Cardinal Seán celebrated a Mass for racial justice and healing at Castle Island. The Mass was the product of collaboration between Congressman Steven Lynch, Fr. Bob Casey and the parishes of South Boston. Nearly one dozen Boston city priests concelebrated the Mass.Several members of the African American ecumenical/interfaith clergy attended, Bishop William Dickerson of the Greater Love Taabernacle Church spoke before the Mass, City Councilor Lydia Edwards was the lector and former State Senator Linda Dorcena-Forry led the prayers of the faithful.
We are pleased to provide you the text of the Cardinal's homily by clicking here.
HOLY WEEK VIDEO MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR, FATHER PAUL SULLIVAN
Please see the notices below from our Pastor, Fr. Paul Sullivan and the Archdiocese of Boston
March 20, 2020
My Dear Friends in Christ,
As we all experience the unprecedented circumstances of the coronavirus (COVID-19) public health crisis please know of my prayers for you and your loved ones. While striving each day to proceed as safely as possible we remember that our faith means we are never alone, even in the most difficult times. Faith is the foundation of hope, and with hope we can address even the most complex challenges of life without being overcome by them.
Our inability to come together as a community for the celebration of the Eucharist, the source and summit of our faith, has been difficult for all of us. As I share in the video message attached here, know that all my brother priests and I are praying for you every day at our celebration of Mass.
In this moment I am reaching out to you on behalf of all your pastors with recognition of the challenges our parishes are facing. At this time, I ask you to please continue your weekly offertory support of your parish by mailing in your envelopes or donations, or by making an online donation through your parish website. In asking for your support I note that approximately only 30% of all the parishioners in our 283 parishes currently contribute regularly online. We understand many of you may not be able to continue your offertory contributions given the economic impact this pandemic has had on your personal finances. We hope that those who are able will continue to support the operations of your parishes during this emergency.
Faith is indeed a gift in times of crisis, providing us with courage to look to the future with hope. It is through this hope that we are able to respond not only to the needs of our families and those closest to us, but also those of others who are served in our parishes. I am grateful for your consideration of this critical request.
Asking God’s blessings upon you and all whom you hold dear, I remain,
Devotedly yours in Christ,
Cardinal Sean O'Malley
Archbishop of Boston

Dear Members of our Parishes,
All of us have had our lives turned upside down because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Please know that although Masses have been suspended, our churches will be open for private prayer every day - please refer to the schedule above for the details.
Also, please continue to give your offertory donations to your Parish as you normally do. We still have employees to be paid and utilities to operate. Please consider Online Giving if you don't already do so - it is safe and easy to do - by visiting our Website and clicking on the "online giving" tab. Or, you can send your donations in the mail or bring it in person and put it through the slot in the front door at our Collaborative Parish Offices at 114 High Street.
Please note that each Parish has very little in savings, so your continued generosity is crucial for our Parishes' operations. We are cutting costs as much as possible during this pandemic.
Let us continue to pray for each other and our communities, especially for those who may be vulnerable to the COVID-19.
Father Paul

Dear Members of our Parishes,
As our communities and our nation grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, Cardinal Sean O'Malley, our bishop, has suspended all Masses and religious services in our parishes, effective immediately, until further notice. He has dispensed everyone in the Archdiocese from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass.
Cardinal O’Malley encourages Catholics, and all people who would find it helpful, to participate in the daily and Sunday Mass by way of Catholic TV. Schedules and access to the televised Mass and rebroadcasts are available at www.WatchtheMass.com or www.catholictv.org and by consulting local cable providers or network listings.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
After conferring with Cardinal Seán, Thomas W. Carroll, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, announced that Archdiocese of Boston parish schools and Archdiocesan elementary and high schools will be closed until May 4, 2020.
If anyone is seriously ill and wishes to see a priest for Anointing, Confession, and/or Holy Communion, please call the Parishes' emergency line at 781-396-0423, ext 102.
Let's pray for each other, and ask our Lord, the Divine Physician, for healing and protection, especially for those who are or will be affected by the COVID-19 virus.
